Grant Carey is a musical shapeshifter, an archiver of worlds, an “indie rock Alan Menken”, and a highly skilled daydreamer. Part Springsteen, part Sondheim; quietly prolific, and totally left-of-center. Always searching, always humming, and always looking forward. His friends call him Granti.

Grant is a boundless composer-performer who makes music at the intersections and on the peripheries of genres, disciplines & realities. Since 2011, he has written and released over 200 original songs with his band Summer Underground, as a solo artist, and under the moniker Private Victories. His original compositions for tv/film, theatre and dance have premiered at places like Outfest LA, Austin Film Festival, Atlanta Horror Film Festival, Kitchen Theatre Company, Bay Street Theater, The Duplex, and Ithaca College. His credits as Music Director include Sweeney Todd, Striking Twelve, Trulee Hall’s Ladies Lair Lake, Once, Next To Normal and Floyd Collins. As an actor his favorite roles include: The Emcee in Cabaret, Tim Muffin in Eigengrau, and Roger in A New Brain. He is currently developing an animated sci-fi musical with librettist Richard Lindenfelzer entitled Airspace & Flittervug. Grant holds a BFA in musical theatre from Ithaca College and currently resides in Los Angeles, CA with his partner Chrissy and their cat Rosie.
